Trump adds two new hires to communications team

Donald Trump is expanding his campaign with two new hires who will focus on organizing surrogates and the team’s rapid response operation.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has hired Bryan Lanza, the former communications director of Citizens United, as its deputy communications director for surrogates. Lanza will work with Trump’s high-profile supporters to ensure they are delivering a cohesive message that resonates with voters.

Additionally, Trump has hired veteran Republican operative Steven Cheung to serve as the campaign’s director of rapid response. Cheung will work on swiftly rebutting claims from Hillary Clinton about Trump. He will also respond to breaking news and “false or unbalanced reporting.”

“These additions look to further educate voters on Hillary’s liberal track record of deception, and effectively communicate the campaign’s message,” the campaign said in a statement on Monday.

Trump has made nearly a dozen new hires since he dismissed his campaign manager Corey Lewandowski last month in an effort to make his campaign more professional.
