Packages of Lean Cuisine frozen chicken meals are being pulled from grocery shelves following a voluntary recall from Nestle Prepared Food Co.

The products may contain small pieces of hard plastic.

The recall affects:

• 9.5-ounce packages of Lean Cuisine pesto chicken with bow-tie pasta with a use-by date of May 2010;

• 10.5-ounce packages of Lean Cuisine chicken Mediterranean with a use-by date of September, October or November 2010;

• 12.5-ounce packages of Lean Cuisine chicken Tuscan meal with a use-by date of September or November 2009.

Giant Food has removed from its shelves all three meals, and customers can return them for a full refund, according to the company.

Harris Teeter carries one of the dinners, the Mediterranean chicken, and has pulled the recalled meals.

Calls to other area supermarket chains to determine if they were recalling the products were not returned by press time.
