Sen. Ron Johnson said the Senate Homeland Security Committee has received an abundance of new information since it voted to subpoena the Burisma Holdings-linked public relations firm, Blue Star Strategies.
“We asked Blue Star Strategies, this Democrat-led lobbying firm that was representing Burisma back on December 3 to start cooperating with our committee,” the Wisconsin Republican, who is chairman of the committee, said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures. “Six months later, they had turned over 149 pages and sent a letter saying they are fully cooperating.”
“The subpoena now has resulted in 2,600 pages of information, so we’ve learned that subpoenas work,” he added.
The committee voted to approve a subpoena last month as part of its GOP-led investigation into Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian energy firm that once employed Hunter Biden as a board member.
Prior to the vote, Blue Star Strategies CEO Karen Tramontano wrote a letter to Johnson saying the firm was “puzzled” by the subpoena and claimed to have submitted all the answers to the committee’s questions and provided documents about all of its meetings with the U.S. government regarding Burisma.
Republicans are seeking information about Biden’s employment with the firm during the time his father, Joe Biden, was serving as vice president with a key role in influencing Ukrainian foreign policy.
