A new poll has found the National Rifle Association and Planned Parenthood, two politically polarizing organizations, are more popular than Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
Trump is viewed positively by just 29 percent of voters surveyed June 19-23 in a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Monday. Clinton’s number is just a little better, 33 percent.
In addition, 60 percent of those surveyed view Trump negatively and 55 percent view Clinton negatively.
By comparison, 42 percent view the NRA in a positive light, and 49 percent view Planned Parenthood favorably. The NRA is viewed negatively by 36 percent of American voters, while 29 percent give the women’s health and abortion rights group unpopular ratings.
The country’s two major parties have so-so ratings. The Republican Party was viewed positively by 28 percent of voters and negatively by 48 percent of voters. The Democratic Party did slightly better, with a 37 percent positive and a 43 percent negative rating.
President Obama and Bernie Sanders are viewed more positively than not, the poll also found. Obama has a net positive view of 7 points — 48-41 percent — while Sanders is viewed more positively, 43-34 percent. House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is viewed negatively by 29 percent of voters and positively by 27 percent.
The number of people surveyed and the margin of error were not disclosed.
