Former senior adviser for President Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and lobbyist David Urban said that despite some of the questionable details from special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, nothing in it was criminal.
“It may be ugly. It may be messy, but I don’t think it rises — and I think this report says — it doesn’t rise to criminality,” Urban said on CNN Thursday night. “There is no doubt that everybody in the White House was told to cooperate fully and cooperate extensively. There is no assertion of executive privilege.”
Urban, who was considered by Trump for chief of staff after reported disagreements with John Kelly in early 2018, said that Mueller’s report showed no evidence of collusion, a fact that Americans should be happy about.
“There is no collusion, there was no concerted effort by the Trump campaign to work with the Russians to impact the election. I think that’s something that should be celebrated,” Urban said.
Mueller’s report was released Thursday morning. Despite some redactions, the report revealed his investigation found that Trump did not collude with Russia during the 2016 presidential election. His report made no determination on whether the president obstructed justice. Despite Mueller not making a determination, Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein cleared Trump of those claims in a four-page letter released to Congress last month.
