85-year-old killed in Long Island hit-run

MELVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — Suffolk County police say an 85-year-old man has died after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver.

Police say Robert Hosking died Saturday morning at Nassau University Medical Center while being treated for internal injuries and multiple fractures.

Hosking was struck around 8:50 p.m. Friday by a vehicle traveling south on Route 110 in Melville.

The driver fled. Police say the vehicle was green and there was damage to the passenger-side front end, side-view mirror and windshield.
