Did you hear about this one, Baltimore?

President Obama is a war criminal. Before you liberals, Democrats and Obamaphiles go getting your skivvies all in a wad, let me give some full disclosure: That assessment isn’t mine.

Actually, it comes from Cynthia McKinney, a former Democrat and fellow lefty of every liberal in the land.

You may remember McKinney from her days as a congresswoman from Georgia. That was back when she was a Democrat. She served five terms from 1993 to 2003.

In 2002, a woman named Denise Majette derailed McKinney’s re-election bid. It was McKinney’s father, former Georgia state legislator and police officer Billy McKinney, who said the reason for his daughter’s defeat was “J-E-W-S.”

Despite her father’s anti-Semitic, Jew-baiting antics, McKinney managed to get re-elected to Congress in 2004. (Which proves, I guess, that Democrats really have no cut card when it comes to candidates they vote into office.)

Throughout her years in Congress, McKinney distinguished herself as:

» The representative who claimed that former President George W. Bush and members of his Cabinet had prior knowledge of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. McKinney also hinted that the Bush family actually profited from the 9/11 tragedy;

» The representative who introduced articles of impeachment against Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice;

» The representative who was a frequent critic of Israel and supporter of Arab causes;

» The representative who had a physical confrontation with Capitol Police.

That record, especially the allegations about Sept. 11, got McKinney the reputation of being a bit of a nut job. That might have been what prompted Slate.com columnist Chris Suellentrop to write:

“All of us have voices in our heads, whispering insanities. Rep. Cynthia McKinney’s problem is that she lets hers speak.”

I have a confession to make about McKinney: Her predilection for voicing her insanities is precisely why I like the woman. And that’s for at least four reasons.

» Insane people need representation too.

» By constantly holding Bush’s feet to the fire, McKinney was doing what the ideal member of the House of Representatives is supposed to do.

» With McKinney around, Republicans can boast that we’ve never elected anyone quite that nutty.

» I find it hysterically funny when liberals and left-wingers get the business from one of their own. And on that point, this McKinney woman absolutely sends me!

Alas, McKinney is no longer in Congress. In 2007, she bolted the Democratic Party and ran for president on the Green Party ticket a year later. (Oh, in case you didn’t get the memo, she didn’t win.)

Earlier this year McKinney spent some time in Libya, where she appeared on state television and criticized Obama.

This summer she’s gone to several U.S. cities as part of what she calls her “Truth Tour.” When her tour stopped in Baltimore, I made it a point to be in Union Baptist Church to hear her speak.

“Our president is committing war crimes,” McKinney, an unapologetic supporter of departed Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, told the crowd. “What does that make him? A war criminal.”

At another point in her speech, she has this to say about Obama: “If you’re the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, then make peace.”

But the piece de resistance of her speech was this, targeted not at Obama, but at his party: “It is vitally important that we snatch away our vote from the war party. Black folks vote 99 percent of the time [for Democrats] and get nothing for it. That’s why Baltimore looks like it does.”

Touche, Mademoiselle McKinney. Touche.
