“Out of an abundance of caution, he was admitted to the hospital, and he’s responding well to treatment,” according to Erin Murphy, the press secretary for the governor.
Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch released a statement on Friday following the announcement of Holcomb’s pneumonia diagnosis.
“I’ve been in contact with his staff today, and it’s good to hear the Governor is resting well and responding to treatment,” Crouch said. “I will be praying for a speedy recovery for him.”
No other details on Holcomb’s hospitalization were available at the time.

Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) is running to replace Holcomb for governor in 2024, according to paperwork he filed with the secretary of state’s office on Tuesday.
Braun will face a primary including Eric Doden, a former Vice President Mike Pence gubernatorial appointee, in the race for the governor’s mansion, and Crouch is expected to run, too.
