New book details UT-Battelle management of lab

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A hardcover book chronicling the history of UT-Battelle’s management of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory is on the market.

“Breaking the Mold” details the initial decade of the partnership between the University of Tennessee and Battelle Memorial Institute. Battelle is a global research and development organization dedicated to science and technology.

UT-Battelle presented the Department of Energy with a groundbreaking proposal and assumed responsibility for the lab in April 2000.

The laboratory has become a world leader in supercomputing, neutron science and energy research. The partnership has also raised the science profile of UT.
