Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler addressed on Twitter the civil disturbance over the weekend in which antifa members attacked a conservative journalist.
Andy Ngo was covering the rally when protesters kicked him and threw things at him. After the incident was caught on camera, Ngo later tweeted that he had to go to the emergency room and had to stay in the hospital overnight because his brain was bleeding, according to his lawyer.
Wheeler said the city stands “against all forms of violence – regardless of someone’s political leanings” on Monday.
But in the last couple of years, some have increasingly used their opportunity to exercise their 1st amendment rights, as an opportunity to incite violence.

“We will do everything we can to make sure that those who have committed violence are held accountable,” Wheeler concluded.
The Portland Police Bureau announced they arrested three people in connection to the violence that occurred Saturday.
While Ngo’s attack has received a lot of attention, several other fights broke out between the demonstrators.
