The flight was headed from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital, to Tawau on a domestic flight when a passenger spotted the snake moving through the overhead lights, according to footage of the incident posted to social media.

“This is a very rare incident which can occur on any aircraft from time to time,” AirAsia’s chief safety officer, Capt. Liong Tien Ling, said.
After landing in Kuching, the flight underwent fumigation, and the snake appeared to be removed from the airplane, according to the report.
Passengers then reboarded the flight and continued on their trip, according to Ling. “The captain took the appropriate action and the flight safely departed for Tawau as soon as possible,” he said.
“The safety and well-being of our guests and crew is always our top priority,” Ling continued. “At no time was the safety of guests or crew at any risk.”
