DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay area detectives are investigating a fire that killed a man and a dog.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office reports that the fire broke out early Sunday inside the Scottish Towers II apartment complex in Dunedin.
Officials identified the man as 54-year-old Ronald Riley. His dog was named Niles.
Reports say that the fire appears to have started near the bed in the studio apartment. The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known, but deputies say it does not appear suspicious.
Dunedin is north of Clearwater, on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
