NYC Black Lives Matter march turns violent after protesters attack photographer, 11 arrests made

A Black Lives Matter protest turned violent Friday night in New York City, resulting in nearly a dozen arrests and injuries among police officers.

The New York Police Department says two officers had minor injuries during the Black Lives Matter march in midtown Manhattan, and 11 arrests were made, according to the New York Post.

At one point, members of the march attacked a photographer, believing that he was a police officer.

“He’s a cop,” someone in the crowd yelled at the photographer, prompting others in the crowd to swarm and attack the man.

The photographer reportedly was not seriously injured and did not require hospitalization.

The violent incident comes less than a week after a Black Lives Matter demonstration spiraled out of control in Washington, D.C., resulting in a skirmish between protesters and police officers, outdoor diners being harassed, and chants of “burn it down” emanating from the crowd.
