‘He actually got his crowd to blame science’: Albert Brooks slams Trump and anti-quarantine protesters

Actor and director Albert Brooks criticized people chanting during protests against stay-at-home orders and said President Trump must be “feeling like he is invincible.”

Thousands of people across the country have demonstrated in recent days to protest social distancing restrictions meant to stem the tide of the coronavirus pandemic that they say are strangling their economic well-being. Some of the protesters have chanted, including shouting “Fire Fauci” in reference to White House task force member Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Brooks took issue with the “Fire Fauci” chants, tweeting Sunday: “The scariest thing about the Trump inspired protests today were people yelling ‘Fire Fauci!’ Trump has to be watching this and feeling like he is invincible. He actually got his crowd to blame science.”

He added: “Even the Germans are going ‘holy shit I thought we got rid of this.'”

The 72-year-old actor of Broadcast News fame follows a long list of Hollywood stars weighing in on the coronavirus pandemic, including actress Debra Messing, actor Alec Baldwin, and comedian Jason Alexander, who have all criticized Trump and blamed him for the thousands of deaths in the United States.
