A song on Beyonce’s new album Renaissance has some listeners “heated.”
They say her use of the word “spaz” is considered a slur against the disabled, namely those with cerebral palsy.
“Spazzin’ on that a**, spaz on that a**,” Beyonce sings.
Now, Beyonce will be changing the lyric, according to multiple reports.
Among those who have spoken out against “Queen Bey” is disability advocate Hannah Diviney.
So @Beyonce used the word ‘spaz’ in her new song Heated. Feels like a slap in the face to me, the disabled community & the progress we tried to make with Lizzo. Guess I’ll just keep telling the whole industry to ‘do better’ until ableist slurs disappear from music ?

Beyonce is not the first singer in recent weeks to use the word “spaz” in a song and get dragged online for it.
Fans also called out Lizzo last month for a line in her song “Grrrls.”
THE LANGUAGE POLICE ARE AFTER LIZZO
“Hold my bag, b**** / Hold my bag / Do you see this s***? / I’m a spaz,” she sings in the intro.
Once Lizzo realized some fans were offended, she announced the lyric would be revised.

Singer Kelis also went after Beyonce, claiming she sampled part of her song without asking.
Despite the controversies, fans don’t appear to be canceling Beyonce. Fifty-seven percent of those surveyed picked her album as the best new release last week, according to a poll from Billboard.
