Feds subpoena Trump PAC, Mar-a-Lago for docs on suspected Chinese money

Federal prosecutors sent subpoenas to Mar-a-Lago and the Trump Victory PAC for records on Republican Party donor Li “Cindy” Yang, a suspected middleman funneling Chinese money into President Trump’s reelection effort.

Prosecutors sent the subpoenas earlier this week, demanding documents on Yang and several close associates and businesses, according to the Miami Herald.

Yang made a living running and flipping a string of massage parlors in South Florida until December 2018. Yang began mixing in politics in 2016 when she became a Republican Party donor. She launched a consulting company that advertised chances for Chinese businessmen to attend events at Mar-a-Lago and potentially meet Trump.

“Trump Victory makes every effort possible to ensure that all contributions are made in accordance with the law. While we can’t comment on any possible ongoing investigations, of course our committee would comply with any request from law enforcement to ensure all contributions are made legally,” Trump Victory said in a statement.

FBI investigations into Yang and her associates were revealed May 9 after the Miami Herald reported that federal investigators had obtained a federal grand jury subpoena for records on Bing Bing Peranio, an employee of a spa owned by Yang’s family.
