Hiring was weak in June across nearly all major U.S. industries. Four of the 10 major industry groups tracked by the government lost jobs. Most of the rest added only a handful.
Manufacturing created 11,000 new jobs, its ninth straight month of gains. Still, that’s below the 41,000 a month added during the January-March quarter. Professional and business services gained 47,000. But half of those were temporary jobs.
