Trudeau said on Thursday he was going into isolation at home after he was exposed to COVID-19. It was later revealed one of his three children had tested positive for the virus.
The prime minister and his family were reportedly moved to an undisclosed location on Sunday as thousands of people gathered at Parliament Hill to protest COVID-19 rules in the country. Trudeau’s office insisted it could not comment on his whereabouts due to security reasons, but his itinerary noted he was in the “national capital region.”
Trudeau’s family moving comes a day after Canadian truckers arrived in Ottawa on Saturday. The Ottawa Police Service asked residents on Monday to stay home and said the truckers’ “Freedom Convoy” demonstration cost the force CA$800,000 a day in policing efforts. Police said they would work with the organizers to facilitate their departure.
