A Texas judge confirmed Hurricane Harvey claimed its first victim Saturday, according to a report.
The individual has not been identified but Rockport officials told reporters that the victim died after being caught in a house fire.
Arkansas County Judge C.H. “Burt” Mills Jr. said 12 to 14 people were also injured by Harvey, which made landfall on Friday night as a Category 4 hurricane but has since become a tropical storm, according to The Austin American-Statesman.
On Friday, the mayor of Rockport urged locals to write their Social Security numbers on their arms if they were not going to evacuate.
