Baltimore City police said a body pulled from the Inner Harbor Wednesday afternoon near Canton was a suicide victim.
City fire crews recovered an adult male?s body near the Point Breeze Industrial Park at the Seagirt Port Terminal at about 1:30 p.m. The body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner?s office as protocol dictates, said Detective Donny Moses, a police spokesman.
“Once we see it?s a suicide, we back off,” Moses said. “Generally, we don?t talk about it.”
Witnesses at the nearby port terminals ? visible from the Fort McHenry toll plaza ? said a private company used a crane to haul a submerged forklift out of the water at the same spot earlier Wednesday morning.
Moses said the forklift and the suicide are unrelated.
