Republican Donald Trump said it has been an “interesting 24 hours” in the time since a video resurfaced that showed him making vulgar comments about women.
“Certainly has been an interesting 24 hours!” Trump wrote Saturday on Twitter.
In the 2005 video, first released by the Washington Post on Friday, Trump is overheard on a hot mic talking with a celebrity gossip show anchor as he arrives on set of a soap opera, where he was set to make a cameo appearance.
Trump makes several lewd remarks about women, including how he attempted to have sex with a married women and how many women let him aggressively hit on them because he’s “a star.”
After the Post’s report, Trump released a video apologizing for the comments.
“I pledge to be a better man tomorrow and will never ever let you down,” Trump said in the video. “Let’s be honest. We’re living in the real world. This is nothing more than a distraction from the important issues we’re facing today. We are losing our jobs, we’re less safe than we were eight years ago and Washington is totally broken. Hillary Clinton and her kind have run our country into the ground. I’ve said some foolish things but there’s a big difference between the words and actions of other people. Bill Clinton has actually abused women and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims. We will discuss this more in the coming days. See you at the debate on Sunday.”
