Jeffrey Epstein accuser Jennifer Araoz is calling for authorities to continue investigating dozens of accusations of sexual abuse against the wealthy financier after his death by suicide.
Epstein, facing charges of sex trafficking, reportedly hanged himself in his cell at the Manhattan Correctional Center while awaiting trial. Officials removed Epstein’s body from the facility Saturday morning.
Epstein’s death has shut down the criminal case against him, but Araoz wants authorities to continue investigating to catch his “accomplices and enablers.” Several of Epstein’s accusers are already planning to pursue a civil case against Epstein’s estate in lieu of a criminal trial.
“I am angry Jeffrey Epstein won’t have to face his survivors of his abuse in court. We have to live with the scars of his actions for the rest of our lives, while he will never face the consequences of the crimes he committed, the pain and trauma he caused so many people,” Araoz said in a statement.
“Epstein is gone, but justice must still be served,” she continued. “I hope the authorities will pursue and prosecute his accomplices and enablers, and ensure redress for his victims.”
Araoz went public with her accusation in July in an interview with NBC News, accusing Epstein of raping her when she was 15.
