Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow’s Thursday night episodes had significantly more viewers than CNN’s impeachment town hall with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Her televised town hall coincided with her directing the House committee chairmen to draft articles of impeachment earlier in the day.
Sean Hannity, the host of the most-watched cable news program on Fox News, had 3,750,000 viewers for Thursday’s show, with 618,000 in the key 25-54 age demographic, according to Nielsen Media Research. He led the three cable news networks in both categories with Maddow trailing him in second. Maddow, who hosts MSNBC’s most-watched show, had an audience of 2,628,000 with 420,000 in the key demographic.
Comparatively, Pelosi’s town hall, which was hosted by Jake Tapper, had 1,645,000 viewers with 410,000 in the key demographic.
Pelosi’s counterpart in the Republican Party, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, appeared on Hannity’s show. During his appearance, McCarthy chided Pelosi for directing articles of impeachment to be written up, and he accused her of having “wasted her entire majority on” impeachment.
