Kristol: Trump Has Chosen a ‘More than Reasonable’ Cabinet

Joining ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, editor at large Bill Kristol expressed cautious optimism with Donald Trump’s cabinet picks, and reiterated concern with Trump following his Twitter battle with Georgia Congressman and civil rights icon John Lewis.

KRISTOL: “I would say until Saturday, and taking a side a couple of his tweets, it was a pretty good week for the Trump administration… In the sense that a lot of moderates and liberals won’t agree with all the cabinet picks… But if you saw General Mattis, General Kelly, and Senator Sessions, and Mr. Tillerson, Congressman Pompeo testifying, you thought, ‘Look, this is a reasonable, more than a reasonable cabinet, I’d say… with serious people…” STEPHANOPOULOS: “He didn’t agree with the president-elect…” KRISTOL: “That’s good. That’s healthy. If you’re… uncertain… a Trump skeptic… you think, you’d say ‘You know what? This administration is going to be better than I expected…’ I would say, as a Trump skeptic, watch it. This week, for me… the administration could be better than expected… decent policies conducted competently by decent people. But, but, the White House and the president himself remain… the president very worrisome. Alarming, almost.
