Trump touts economy and tax cuts: ‘A subject the Fake News spends as little time as possible discussing!’

President Trump spent his morning Twitter time touting the progress toward a deal on a tax reform bill in Congress and the progress the economy has made during his time in office, while chiding the media for not having more favorable coverage.

“Things are going really well for our economy, a subject the Fake News spends as little time as possible discussing! Stock Market hit another RECORD HIGH, unemployment is now at a 17 year low and companies are coming back into the USA. Really good news, and much more to come!” Trump tweeted.

He added a few minutes later, “Getting closer and closer on the Tax Cut Bill. Shaping up even better than projected. House and Senate working very hard and smart. End result will be not only important, but SPECIAL!”

Trump is pushing Republicans in Congress to come to a deal on tax reform by the end of the year. It would be his most significant legislative accomplishment to date. The deal could rope in some of his promise to repeal President Obama’s Affordable Care Act by possibly ending the individual mandate that requires Americans to have health insurance or pay a fine to the government.

To this point, Trump has been stymied on legislative goals by Congress. Republican lawmakers tried and failed three times to repeal and replace, or reform, Obamacare during the summer and have yet to unveil the $1 trillion infrastructure package Trump promised during the campaign.

However, the tax reform package has passed both chambers of Congress, albeit in different forms. The Senate and House have both voted to go to a conference committee to work out the differences between the two bills.

The Dow Jones Industrial Index closed above 24,000 points on Friday after another strong day of trading. Wall Street has been pleased during Trump’s time in office, mainly due to the promises of less regulation and lower taxes.
