LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — A New Mexico woman whose $7,000 prosthetic leg was stolen from her SUV outside a West Texas hotel will get her artificial limb back.
Lubbock police on Friday announced they’ve recovered the prosthesis belonging to Mary Alice London of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Police investigating a series of burglaries detained two suspects on unrelated charges and located the prosthetic leg at a residence.
Investigators say London reported the limb was in a suitcase that was stolen Aug. 2 from her vehicle parked outside a Lubbock hotel. London said her health insurance did not cover the specialty limb, which can get wet — such as for use while showering.
Sgt. Jason Lewis says officers will make sure the prosthetic leg is returned to London. Police didn’t immediately provide additional details Saturday.
