George H.W. Bush improving and Barbara Bush feels ‘1,000 percent’ better

Former President George H.W. Bush remains in stable condition in a Houston hospital after a good night’s rest, and his wife is feeling “1,000 percent” better, according to a spokesman for the couple.

Family spokesman Jim McGrath said the 41st president is being evaluated and he could leave the hospital’s intensive care unit in the next few days.

Former First Lady Barbara Bush was admitted to the same hospital on Wednesday with a case of bronchitis, McGrath said in a statement. She’s feeling “1,000 percent” better thanks to antibiotics and good rest, he said.

McGrath said the Bushes appreciate the well-wishes they’ve received and are grateful for friends who have visited to boost their spirits.

Bush is the only living former president who is going to miss President-elect Trump’s inauguration on Friday, and he apologized in a letter to Trump.
