Take 5 for Sept. 16-18

Vintage Crystal in Crystal City, Sunday What a weekend for vino. First, there’s the Virginia Wine Festival, one of the biggest annual local wine events, out in Centreville. But if you’re looking for a wine event a little closer to home — and Metro-accessible — consider Vintage Crystal in Crystal City. Yes, Crystal City. This Sunday marks the fifth annual Vintage Crystal, a Latin-themed wine event in this Arlington neighborhood. “It’s a really fun day,” said Angela Fox, president of the Crystal City Business Improvement District. “It has a nice atmosphere.” This year’s event includes 30 types of wine, jazz, food and entertainment, all Latin-themed. Fox said that the idea for a wine-based event stemmed from the desire to have something with an artisan, laid-back atmosphere. “We find that wine has gotten really popular,” Fox said. Vintage Crystal is one in a long line of events that Crystal City has offered this year, in addition to 5ks, movie festivals and more. “It’s a beautiful place to be,” Fox said.
