President Trump discussed Iran with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call on Monday, just two days after Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps ships reportedly rushed a U.S. naval vessel in the Strait of Hormuz and forced it to change course.
The White House confirmed Trump’s phone call with Netanyahu to the Washington Examiner. An official said the White House would release a readout of the conversation later Monday.
The IRGC ships sailed within 600 yards of the U.S. naval ship on Saturday, according to a Reuters report. It was not clear whether the call with Netanyahu, which was not originally on Trump’s schedule, addressed the incident.
Trump has promised to put Iran “on notice” for its increasingly aggressive activities in the region, which have at times targeted U.S. allies. Iran tested a ballistic missile early in Trump’s presidency as well.
