Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was absent from in-person oral arguments on Monday, participating remotely after he was released from the hospital on Friday. Thomas had been admitted for “flu-like” symptoms one week before.
Thomas, 73, was absent for three oral arguments last week after being admitted to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., on March 18 for an unspecified infection, which the court previously said was not related to COVID-19.

The most senior justice still participated in considerations and decisions for cases weighed by the other eight justices last week, and on Monday, Thomas actively participated in conversations about two cases before the court, LeDure v. Union Pacific Railroad Co. and Southwest Airlines Co. v. Saxon.
