Former Vice President Joe Biden sent a heartfelt message of support Thursday to “Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who earlier announced she was battling breast cancer.
“We Veeps stick together,” Biden wrote on social media to the actor who portrays fictional vice president and then-president Selina Meyer on the hit TV show. “Jill and I, and all of the Bidens, are with you, Julia.”

Louis-Dreyfus opened up about her cancer fight on Twitter earlier in the day, tying her diagnosis to her advocacy for universal healthcare.
“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union,” Louis-Dreyfus — who holds the record for most Emmy Award wins by a performer for the same role in a single series — tweeted. “The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”

Biden lost his eldest son Beau Biden to brain cancer at age 46 on May 30, 2015. He has continued to pursue his “Cancer Moonshot” initiative since leaving the Obama White House to help search for a cure to the disease.
