A small plane was forced to make a crash landing onto a California freeway on Tuesday after experiencing mechanical issues mid-flight.

The single-engine plane descended from the sky, crash landing onto 91 Freeway in Riverside County at about 12:30 p.m., hitting a truck carrying three people before it burst into flames.

Both a pilot and passenger on the plane, as well as the three occupants in the truck, miraculously remained unharmed, according to KTLA.

The pilot, Andrew Cho, described how the landing felt like a “hard bump” after the plane lost power due to a possible engine failure.

“We were four to five feet in the air when the plane stalled completely and fell to the ground,” Cho said. “Your training kicks in and you do the right thing. As long as you don’t panic, you get the best outcome.”

Video footage after the crash shows firefighters extinguishing a small fire billowing from the plane. Eastbound lanes of the 91 Freeway were closed for several hours as authorities removed the plane wreckage and investigated the cause of the crash.
