A D.C. police officer charged with murder and manslaughter in the death of a young Prince George’s County mother and her 1-year-old child will be held without bond.
Raymond Phillips, 39, of Temple Hills faces first- and second-degree murder charges for the death of Wynetta Wright. Wright, 20, of District Heights claimed that Phillips was the father of her daughter, Jaylin, who may have been left in a vehicle to die of heat exposure, according to court records. Phillips has been charged with manslaughter in the baby’s death.
Wright and her daughter had been missing for days before Prince George’s County police found Wright’s body in Oxon Run Stream Valley Park. Jaylin’s body was found later in a car seat in Wright’s Saturn Vue nearby the park. Wright had been shot in the head, and it appeared Jaylin had been left in the car for days.
A judge ruled that Phillips be held without bond due to the gruesome details of the deaths revealed in the charges against him.
