A CBS News poll released Wednesday found the majority of Americans believe President Trump is having an effect inside the Beltway and is not letting the political culture change him.
The April 21-24 survey found 54 percent of U.S. adults think Trump is changing Washington, while 30 percent said the district is changing him.
Among Republicans, more than two-thirds said he is the stronger in his relationship with Washington. Even 49 percent of Democrats and 49 percent of Independents said the Republican leader has taken control of the gridlocked city.
Trump brought some of his family members to Washington, including his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner. Only 10 percent of adults said his hiring the family members as top White House advisers was a “positive” move, while 48 percent viewed it as negative. Trump has said keeping his former campaign advisers close to him as president is important.
The poll was conducted by phone among 1,214 randomly selected adults nationwide.
