Actor Seth Rogen said that he turned down a request for a photo from Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan during a recent event.
Rogen, star of movies such as “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Pineapple Express,” recounted the story on Friday on “Late Night with Stephen Colbert.”
Rogen said that he spoke about Alzheimer’s in Colorado at a summit hosted by Mitt Romney when Ryan’s teenage children approached him. Rogen told Colbert he took a photo with the teenagers, who then said that their dad wanted to meet him.
“I turned around, and Paul Ryan was walking towards me,” Rogen said. “My whole body puckered, and I tensed up, and I didn’t know what to do. He said, ‘Can I have a picture with you?’”
Rogen added that he looked over, “and his kids are standing right there expectantly, clearly fans of mine, and I said, ‘No way, man.’ I couldn’t stop, and I said furthermore I hate what you are doing to the country at this moment, and I count the days until you no longer have one iota of the power you currently have.”
Ryan announced earlier this year that he is not seeking re-election but will remain as speaker of the House.
Rogen said he felt bad for Ryan’s teenagers, but gave them some advice.
“They should probably learn that if they like a movie or song the person who made that probably doesn’t like their dad that much, unless they are watching ‘Roseanne’ reruns or something,” he said.
