New Hampshire GOP headquarters vandalized, defaced with ‘Nazis’ graffiti

Staff at the headquarters for the New Hampshire Republican Party came to work Thursday morning to find a broken window and the word “Nazis” surrounded by a heart spray painted on the building.

Police were called to the Concord headquarters Thursday morning after staff reported that a suspect broke a back window of the building and spray painted graffiti on the west side of the building.

Police Lt. Sean Ford told the Concord Monitor that officials are still determining whether to treat the issue as a hate crime.

“When you start doing that stuff, that’s extreme,” Ford said.

The vandalism comes following growing criticism over President Trump’s comments regarding white nationalist protests in Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday that claimed the life of three people, including two state police officers.

The State’s Democratic Party offered its condemnation of the act, saying vandalism has no place in politics.

“Vandalism is unacceptable, it’s inexcusable and it’s wrong. The New Hampshire Democratic Party wholly condemns this criminal action and hopes the perpetrator is held accountable. There is no place for that in our politics,” New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley said in a statement.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., also condemned the vandalism in a tweet in which she called for unity in the “face of bigotry and hatred.”
