Vice President Mike Pence is cutting short an overseas trip to return to Washington by mid-week, and help President Trump pass a spending bill to keep the government fully open past Friday.

An aide on Pence’s 10-day trip to Asia and Hawaii told reporters that the trip would be ending earlier than planned, according to a pool report. Pence will stay in Hawaii briefly on Monday and then head back to Washington in order to help Trump avoid a partial government shutdown that would go into effect after Friday if Congress can’t pass a new spending bill.
