Former Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson was disbarred from practicing law in Maryland on Friday.
Johnson is scheduled to report to prison by Feb. 3 after pleading guilty to his role in initiating wide-ranging pay-to-play schemes in Prince George’s County, acts a judge described as pure cronyism. He was sentenced to 87 months in prison and fined $100,000 in December.
The Maryland Court of Appeals issued an order disbarring Johnson on Friday.
Johnson was caught on tape instructing his wife, Leslie Johnson, to flush a $100,000 check down the toilet and stuff $79,600 in her bra and underwear in a futile effort to elude FBI agents.
Leslie was also sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison for her part in attempting to cover up her husband’s crimes.
