HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) — An advisory warning about 100,000 Prince George’s County residents to boil their water before using it has been lifted.
The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission lifted the advisory just before midnight Thursday.
The commission issued the precautionary advisory Tuesday after a 59-year-old water main broke in Hyattsville. Residents were urged to boil their water before drinking it, brushing their teeth, washing dishes, making ice or preparing food.
That’s because when a water system loses pressure, there’s an increased risk of contamination. The commission says there was no evidence of contamination resulting from the Hyattsville break.
Affected residents were in Hyattsville, Bladensburg, Mount Rainier, Cheverly, Chillum, Edmonston, Landover Hills, Glen Arden, Fairmount Heights, Seat Pleasant and Brentwood.
