Part of northeastern Spain is under a chemical emergency alert after part of a factory exploded.
Video posted to social media shows an enormous pillar of fire and smoke billowing from the source of the explosion. Emergency services in the region called the fire a “chemical accident,” according to the Independent. One person is confirmed dead after a building collapsed, and at least six are injured, including two with major burns.

The country is warning the city’s 800,000 residents to stay indoors and keep their windows shut, although there is “no evidence of a toxic cloud.”
A number of fire trucks and medical units were at the scene of the blast, and a 500-meter wide perimeter has been cordoned off. Locals reported that the explosion from the plant could be heard from miles away.
