CNN Brazil reporter Bruna Macedo was robbed at knifepoint while reporting live in Sao Paolo.
A video of Macedo showed her being approached by a man on Saturday while on the air. The man can be seen confronting her and pulling out a knife. Macedo then handed two cellphones over to him before the feed was cut by CNN.
CNN presenter Rafael Colombo, who was commentating when the incident took place, said Macedo is fine without any serious injuries but that she suffered a “terrible scare.”
“It was impossible to understand at the time what was happening, if it was a homeless person passing by,” he said, adding that the man threatened Macedo and knew she had two cellphones, a private and a corporate one. “But after what happened, we cut the image.”
CNN Brazil just launched in March 2020 after it had been announced as a new network branch last year.
