Media personality Glenn Beck has been profoundly changed by the Obama presidency and the 2016 election cycle.
“I did a lot of freaking out about Barack Obama,” Beck told the New Yorker, before apologizing for his constant barrage of vitriol toward Obama, including once accusing him of being a racist with a “deep-seated hatred for white people.”
“Obama made me a better man,” he admitted. “There are things unique to the African-American experience that I cannot relate to. I had to listen to them.”
Beck said that thanks to Obama, he is now a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement.
In the same interview, he also heaped praise on first lady Michelle Obama’s speeches while on the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton and blasted her opponent, Donald Trump, with whom he said he once had a very “Howard Hughes-like conversation.”
“This guy is dangerously unhinged,” Beck said. “And, for all the things people have said about me over the years, I should be able to spot dangerously unhinged.”
