News Summary: Isuzu recalls 2 SUVs

Published July 9, 2012 3:59pm ET

THE RECALL: Isuzu is recalling more than 11,000 1998 to 2001 Amigo SUVs and 2001 and 2002 Rodeo Sport SUVs sold or registered in 21 states and Washington, D.C., where salt is used to clear roads in the winter.

THE PROBLEM: Parts in the rear suspension can rust and break away from the frame, hampering the vehicles’ handling and possibly causing a crash.

THE SOLUTION: Isuzu dealers will inspect the suspensions and treat them with a rust-resistant compound or install a reinforcing bracket free of charge. In rare cases when the rust is so bad that the bracket won’t work, Isuzu will buy the vehicles back based on the Kelley Blue Book private party sale price.
