A 56-year-old Ashburn-area man died Tuesday after a vehicle crash in Fairfax County, authorities said.
Fairfax County police responded to the crash about 1 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators said the man had driven off the roadway on Fairfax County Parkway just after passing Franklin Farms Road, then hit the sound barrier wall.
Passersby got the driver out of the vehicle, then the vehicle caught fire, officials said. The driver was taken to a hospital where he died.
Police do not believe that speed or alcohol played a role in the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
