Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon believes criticism from high profile Democrats of former President Bill Clinton for sexual misconduct “is an earthquake” for the party.
“Kirsten Gillibrand’s comment about Bill Clinton, I think, is an earthquake in the Democratic Party because the Wall Street-Clinton junta that controls the Democratic Party has really been bulletproof,” Bannon told John Catsimatidis on New York’s AM 970, adding Gillibrand’s “shot across the bow” was an indicator of her 2020 presidential aspirations.
Gillibrand, D-N.Y., told the New York Times on Thursday former president Bill Clinton should have resigned in light of his affair with then-White House intern Monica Lewinsky from 1995-1996.
Bannon, who returned to Breitbart News as executive chairman after his stint in the West Wing, bragged it was his idea to invite women who had accused Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct at various points in his political career to Hillary Clinton’s second presidential debate in October 2016.
“It’s incumbent upon the Democratic Party to really start to vet what Bill Clinton did and, quite frankly, what Hillary Clinton did as his enabler,” he continued.
Bannon also said Trump’s “drain the swamp” mantra from the 2016 campaign trail was “almost too cute by half.”
“This is very serious business,” Bannon said. “This business model of our elites, of our permanent political class in Washington, D.C. – they’re not going to give up control easily.”
