The husband of a Chaffee County, Colorado, mother who was reported missing last year on Mother’s Day weekend was arrested on Wednesday, authorities said.
Barry Morphew, 53, the husband of Suzanne Morphew, 49, is facing charges that include first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, according to court documents seen by FOX21.
One of Morphew’s employees told the outlet that the man was seen being taken into custody Wednesday morning at one of his job sites in Chaffee County. Morphew works in construction.
Suzanne Morphew was reported missing on Mother’s Day last year after going for a bike ride. The Chaffee County Sheriff’s office, the FBI, and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation have been investigating her disappearance, and the local sheriff’s office released a public tip line for anyone with information about her whereabouts.

WOMAN MISSING FOR MONTHS FOUND ALIVE AT UTAH CAMPGROUND
The Chaffee County District Attorney’s office told the Washington Examiner in an automated message that there would be a press release sent out at 3 p.m. local time, and there would be no further comment about the investigation following its release.
The brother of the missing Morphew, Andrew Moorman, said on CBS’s Dr. Phil in October that he thought her husband killed her based on tips and evidence, but he hoped it wasn’t true.
“She’s hidden too well, Phil. Her bicycle was planted there. She was never on it. I think she was abducted and, in this case, murdered,” Moorman added.
There is no confirmation that the body of the missing mother has been found, a local ABC affiliate reported. A contact for her husband was not immediately available.
When Melinda Moorman heard the news about the arrest of her missing sister’s husband, she told FOX21, “Today, justice is beginning for my sister. It’s been a journey that no one ever imagines that they’ll take.”
She added that she still loves her brother-in-law, “though he’s done a terrible thing.”
