Columbia residents will elect village board members, who guide the day-to-day operations of their communities, this weekend and for one race April 29.
Of the 10 villages, contested races will occur in Hickory Ridge, River Hill, Town Center and Wilde Lake.
The seven people running for five seats on the seven-member Hickory Ridge board are Linda Hitzelberger, Tom Louden, Nancy McCord, Gregg Schwind, David Zeitzer, Dawn Ashburn and George Bendor.
The four candidates seeking three seats on the seven-member River Hill board are Larry Blickman, Sean Keller, Todd Harrison and Michelle Potocko.
In Town Center, the election will take place April 29, and the four people vying for two seats on the five-member board are Burt Knaust, Stephen Meskin, Hugh Tousey and Linda Wengel.
In Wilde Lake, the six people competing for seats on the five-member board are Robert Vogel, Linda Odum, Mary Pizar, Sarah Croushler, Vincent Marando and Rhoda Tovack.
Three village board races either did not have enough candidates to fill the open seats or no one decided to run.
Village officials say board members will appoint people to fill the vacancies.
In Oakland Mills, the four people running for five seats on the six-member board are Phil Engelke, Karen Gray, W.H. “Kriz” Krizmanich and William Woodcock.
No one was interested in running for two seats on the five-member board in Harper?s Choice.
The two people running for three seats on the five-member Kings Contrivance board are Hillary Bierce and Lorraine Kelly.
