Parents charged in girl’s drowning death

<br/><small><a href=”http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&amp;source=embed&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=11750+Sunrise+Valley+Drive,+Reston,+VA&amp;aq=0&amp;sll=37.0625,-95.677068&amp;sspn=38.690438,61.523437&amp;vpsrc=0&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;hq=&amp;hnear=11750+Sunrise+Valley+Dr,+Reston,+Virginia+20191&amp;t=m&amp;ll=38.950331,-77.352161&amp;spn=0.01335,0.01708&amp;z=14&amp;iwloc=A” style=”color:#0000FF;text-align:left”>View Larger Map</a></small></div> <p>A couple has been charged with child abuse and neglect in <a href=”http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/capital-land/2011/09/girl-1-drowns-reston-hotel” target=”_blank”>the drowning death</a> of their 1-year-old daughter.</p> <p>Fairfax County police said Wreef Wafy Almutiri drowned inside a room at the Westin Hotel, located at 11750 Sunrise Valley Drive, on Sept. 18.</p> <p>Her parents, 27-year-old Wafy Abdullah Almutiri and 21-year-old Maryam Masaad Almutiri, turned themselves in Monday.</p> <p>Police did not provide additional details about the drowning.</p> <p>A hotel employee called police about the drowning, said Officer Bud Walker, a police spokesman. He said the girl’s parents were on the hotel premises, but did not know exactly where they were.</p>
