President Trump has invited Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to meet at the White House on Feb. 10.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said on Twitter the date was agreed upon during the two leaders’ phone call on Saturday.

A statement from the White House said Trump and Abe also discussed “the importance of the U.S.-Japan alliance and cooperation on regional and global issues. President Trump affirmed the ironclad U.S. commitment to ensuring the security of Japan.”
The statement also said the two leaders discussed “the significance” of Defense Secretary Jim Mattis’s upcoming visit to the region, including a stop in Japan.
“President Trump and Prime Minister Abe said they would consult and cooperate on the threat posed by North Korea,” the statement continued. “The two leaders also committed to deepen the bilateral trade and investment relationship.”
Trump is scheduled to speak with a number of other world leaders over the phone Saturday, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump had his first in-person meeting with a world leader this week. He met with United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May at the White House on Friday.
