HOUSTON (AP) — A man sent to death row for the slaying of his ex-girlfriend’s mother at her home in Austin six years ago has died in prison, Texas corrections officials said Wednesday.

Selwyn Davis, 30, was found unresponsive on the floor of his death row cell at the Polunsky Unit outside Livingston during a security check last Friday night, Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Jason Clark said. When Davis couldn’t be revived, he was taken to the prison infirmary and then to a hospital in Livingston where he was pronounced dead, Clark said.
